ColdFusion / FusionReactor

TOP 3 Benefits of FusionReactor compared to Adobe's ColdFusion CF 8 Enterprise Monitor - Want even more reasons - click here for the full list.

  1. FusionReactor captures request and resource data to log files for future analysis

This is an essential feature for a server monitor - if you're trying to determine why something is breaking, then you need to capture the data and analyze it. It is usually not sufficient to just take a look at what's happening right now (the server might go down at 3:00am - but you'd still like to understand why). FusionReactor captures the data so you can review what happened in the past. Having the log history is also essential for auditing purposes and long term planning and analysis. Read about our upcoming FusionAnalytics product to understand more about log analysis. Adobe ColdFusion 8 Server Monitor does not gather metric information to log files.

  2. FusionReactor is built for continuous usage in production environments and has an 'insignificant' effect on server performance

FusionReactor is a "low-overhead" pro-active server monitor, its Crash Protection and Survival Strategy features are designed to keep your server alive in critical situations, even under extreme load and the request capture feature is continuously capturing information - in short, FusionReactor should be run continuously in production. Adobe ColdFusion 8 Server Monitor is not recommended to be run on production servers when using certain configurations e.g. when memory tracking is enabled, due to the negative impact on system performance.

  3. If ColdFusion crashes, FusionReactor can continue monitoring your server

FusionReactor does not run inside ColdFusion and may be installed on a separate Servlet Engine, such as Tomcat or JBoss to provide a "monitor the monitor" or "cross-over" monitor solution (see FREM). So if ColdFusion crashes, you don't lose your monitoring capability. Adobe ColdFusion 8 Server Monitor runs inside ColdFusion and will therefore stop monitoring if a CF crash occurs.
