Easy Deployment of an Enterprise Monitor and FusionReactor

Before FREM, many users installed FusionReactor into a standalone Tomcat server for the purpose of creating a dedicated monitor for their Enterprise wide FusionReactor instances. This required you to install Tomcat and FusionReactor on the computer and configure them yourself. FREM is a complete standalone server based upon Tomcat that installs from one ready-to-run package.

FREM can monitor any FusionReactor instance that it can reach on the network and can be used to install FusionReactor instances into Application servers on the same computer.

Improved Monitoring Solution

FREM is intended to be used as a dedicated monitoring server and avoids you having to use production servers for Enterprise wide (multi-server/instance) Monitoring.

Although it is advisable to install FREM on a computer that is dedicated to monitoring (to increase the reliability of your monitoring), FREM can be installed on the same server as the monitored instances if no other solution is available. If FREM is installed on the same server as the Applications servers to be monitored you do not need to install FusionReactor, but you can install instances of FusionReactor from the FREM instance manager.

Scalable Monitoring

FREM allows you to increase the scalability of your FR monitoring solution by being dedicated to monitoring the Application servers.

Installing FusionReactor Instances from FREM

You can install FusionReactor instances into any supported Applications servers such as ColdFusion, JBoss, Tomcat (and many others) on the same computer using the FREM Instance Manager. FusionReactor does not need to be installed on the computer if you install FREM. *Please note that you should install instances from either FusionReactor or FREM, but it is not recommended to install instances from both. FusionReactor and FREM maintain lists of the ports in use for the instances which could overlap if you try to use both to install instances.

Licencing

FREM is licensed in the same way as FusionReactor i.e. you require 1 license per physical machine - Read more.

We appreciate your participation in the beta release.

FREM is currently available for Windows platforms and can be used to monitor Enterprise Edition instances of FusionReactor.

Getting Started

  1. Download the FusionReactor Enterprise Monitor
  2. If you already have FREM installed on your server - first UN-INSTALL FREM
  3. Install the FusionReactor Enterprise Monitor (FREM)*(Note: It is not recommended to install beta software on a production server)
  4. Using the Instance Manager page install any instances of FusionReactor you may need into any Application Servers on this computer. *(Note: This step is optional as you may be using FREM on a dedicated computer that does not contain any Application servers.)
  5. Using the Manage Servers page add any existing FusionReactor instances you wish to monitor. *(Note: These do not have to be located on the same computer as FREM)
  6. Check the Enterprise Dashboard to see the servers being monitored.
